| Oklahoma Disaster Relief Message from National FOP President Canterbury |
The Chairman of the National Trustees, Joe Perkins has been on scene in Moore OK and reports that we have not had any members injured or killed. That is the good news. The bad is 8 to 10 members have lost their homes. I am urging our members to go to http://www.fop.net/causes/foundation/dis.shtml and donate to our National Disaster Program.

| Deny Clemency for Nathan Dunlap |
Nathan Dunlap is scheduled to be executed the week of August 18th. He has asked Governor John Hickenlooper for clemency. It is our position that Dunlap be denied clemency and for Dunlap to finally receive the penalty his jury saw fit for the crimes he committed. A penalty that has been upheld consistently throughout a lengthy appeals’ process.

| National Police Week 2013 – We Will Never Forget |
This week is National Police Week drawing thousands of people in attendance from across the United States. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.

| Jeremy Bitner Fallen Officer Fund 5K/10K Run |
The 2013 Jeremy Bitner Fallen Officer Fund 5K/10K Run (3.1 miles/6.2 miles) & 5K Walk will be held on June 8th, 2013 and will start and finish at Cornerstone Park in Englewood, CO. The Run/Walk will benefit “The Jeremy Bitner Fallen Officer Fund” by assisting families affected by the loss of an officer in the line-of-duty.

| Attend Fallen Officer’s Memorial Ceremony at State Capitol, Wednesday, May 1st |
Wednesday May 1st is the annual “Recognition of Fallen Peace Officers” ceremony at the Colorado State Capitol. There will be a reading of Senate Joint Resolution 13-029 declaring the week of May 12 - 18, 2013, as “Police Week”, and in connection therewith, declaring May 15, 2013, as “Peace Officers' Memorial Day”.

| Colorado FOP Supports the Lassy Project for Missing Children |
The Colorado FOP recently endorsed the Lassy Project and we are urging FOP members and the general public to get involved in this important effort. It should be our goal to make our communities and neighborhoods as safe as possible for our children.
Every second counts when a child goes missing.

| Colorado FOP Offering Expanded Legal Services Plan to Members |
The Colorado Fraternal Order of Police in cooperation with the law firm of Elkus Sisson & Rosenstein, P.C. is now offering an inexpensive outstanding addition to its Legal Services for FOP members in good standing. The FOP’s duty related Legal Defense Plan that all members enjoy is by far the best available to law enforcement. No other plan comes close.

Across the country special interest groups are using Public Employees as scapegoats for the financial problems caused by politicians. These politicians are endangering the public in order to further their own agenda to silence public employee unions and gut public services. The safety of every citizen of the United States is threatened as Public Safety jobs are eliminated and the services and protections that these departments offer the public are scaled back to the bare bones. We cannot continue to allow the politicians that we entrust to run our government destroy the safety of our communities.
